“Hey, I don’t like this situation any more than you do. Steel should’ve left me with Spade. At least he’s funny.”

This wanka must think I’m here for his entertainment. Flipping her auburn ponytail back, Copper spun around to face him. “I have the right mind to kill you just to get rid of the persistent headache that comes along with your annoying voice. So, for the last time, shut it!”

“Kill me?” Crouched between the two patients, he paused on administering a shot to the girl with the missing leg. Wide frightened eyes rested on her. “You wouldn’t do that.”

She let a malicious smile slip across her lips. “I most certainly would, and in case you’re wondering, I would take great pleasure in it.”

Cautiously, he stood and scuttled further back into the vehicle. “You’re a soldier for mankind, not some ruthless murderer.”

“Laughable. I’ve been in your presence for no more than twenty minutes and you speak as though you know me, when in fact, you have no fuckin’ idea who I am.” Moving closer, she held onto the boy’s fear-filled stare. “What do you think I did before becoming an Andausian soldier? Bake cookies and read romance novels?” A snorting giggle erupted from her. “I’m equipped with a special set of skills. I can take life and cover my tracks without anyone being the wiser.”

“You—you’re just trying to scare me.”

“Am I?” She twirled her dagger between her fingers. “Let’s see. How would I conceal your unfortunate, yet timely death? Ah, I know. I’ll just say a demon possessed you. Yes, that’s it. A demon seized control of your mind, therefore, I had no other choice but to do away with you. After all, a possessed human is a lost soul.”

“Well, your friend Blaze…” he muttered, his voice shaky. “She’s been possessed. Do you think of her as a lost soul?”

And now he’s done it!

Fire ignited behind her eyes. In a flash step, she bolted into the truck. The sharp edge of her blade found his throat, jarring a startled gasp out of him. “You daft fool!” The stinging tears came back as a burning sensation inflamed her heart. “You just don’t know when to shut your fuckin’ pie hole!”

SHAKEN (Book 1)

There’s something to be said for lust at first sight.

shakenRedd wasn’t looking for Mr. Right but Mr. Right now. But the moment Nikko walked into her bar she felt that first rush of need. She wasn’t shy about getting what she wanted even if only for one night, which was all her chaotic lifestyle would allow. Besides, not many men wanted to date a woman who worked in a strip club, even if she were the bartender. It tended to make them sneer. She didn’t know which was worse. When they found out she was part owner or when they found out she was a law student. That intimidated the hell out of some. She didn’t really give a damn.

Nikko wasn’t looking for anyone. His life was full as the senior associate at a law firm and he just found out he was being considered for partnership. His life was about to become even busier. Then something happened that left him shaken. What should have been one night of uninhibited pleasure became a weekend, then it became more. How the hell did that happen? And did he want it to stop?

Shaken is also book 1.5 in The Young Guns Series.

Who is that masked man?

stirredDuring the day Harper Reynolds might have been a law school student, but at night he was a male stripper. At the very exclusive members only Club Prestige. To protect his identity he wore a mask. But one day someone saw through his facade and suddenly the future he’d planned was threatened.

Nadya Johnson thought she’d always be a marine, at least for the next eight years. But a bullet took it all away from her. Including the man she’d been writing to for years. Someone she’d never met—but she wanted to see him just once. Even if he didn’t know who she was; and she didn’t dare tell him her real name. All she wanted was one night.

FROZEN (Book 3)

A perfect moment can change it all.

frozenLani

Ever have that one perfect moment in time, when you know exactly what you’re supposed to do, who you’re supposed to be in life? Well, that had been me, and it certainly had lasted for more than a moment. I’d decided to pledge myself to God and help others in his name. Selfless, that was me and I was weeks away from taking my final vows. Then something happened, I met someone and suddenly I questioned everything.

Rom

I’ve always lived my life on my terms. Granted, I never thought I’d grow up to be a male stripper. But what the hell, I made good money and now, I had a shot at something more. And the women. Yeah, I loved women but they came and went. I preferred it that way. Didn’t matter which of us left first, as long as one of us did. I didn’t do attachments. Then something happened. I’m no saint, but I saved someone and wanted an attachment. Only to find out I could never have her.

Chapter 1 Excerpt

“Thank you again for coming, Lani,” Corrine said, giving me a quick hug.

“Yes,” Lara added, kissing my cheek. “Thank you. Love you. Feel better.” She squeezed my arm.

“I will. Love you too.”

“Want me to help you get a cab?” Lara asked

“No, I’ll just call one.”

“Okay. Text me once you get home,” Lara said.

I rolled my eyes. “Sure, sure.” It’s not like I lived alone. I hadn’t moved out of our parent’s house yet. I wouldn’t until I took my novitiate vows in a month, but I worked everyday and went to church every other day. Only returning to our parent’s house in time for dinner and to sleep.

I made my way to the elevator while my sister and her companions went in the other direction to one of the rooms for the strip show. Part of me was a little curious and wanted to see one, but the other more practical part of me knew I shouldn’t. Having a drink in a bar was one thing, watching the strip show, well something else entirely. Besides, the world seemed a little tilted. I stepped onto the elevator and leaned against the side to right myself. I’d just pressed the button for the first floor when someone stepped on. My head ached so much I couldn’t even glance up to see who I shared the ride with. I stared at the floor and could see the dark shoes and pants legs, the size hinted at a man.

The door closed, the elevator dropped and my body swayed but I didn’t fall.

The man who now stood behind me said, “Whoa!” He held onto my waist as though to steady me.

“Tha—thank—y…” Something was wrong with my voice. My words didn’t come out right. How much did I have to drink? The elevator door opened and I took a step forward to get out when the entire floor spun up to meet my face, but strong hands held onto me.

“I got ya.”

“Everything okay?”

A male’s voice asked, one I didn’t recognize.

“Yeah, she’s fine. Just a little too much to drink.”

I didn’t recognize the one who answered either. “Na…” I wanted to protest, but the arms holding me up were the only reason I could walk forward. I leaned against his strength, depending on it.

I felt myself being placed in the back of a car. The scent of smoke and stale air made me want to puke. “Cab,” I muttered.

“Yeah, cab.”

Hands reached across my lap to snap my seatbelt, pausing to stroke my breasts. Wrong this was all wrong. “Nooooooo!” I cried out.

christmasdelights333x500“Believe it or not, I used to love Christmas. It was my favorite holiday.” Tranell paused to find the right words. “It kinda lost its zing in my life, ya know. I mean, as far as family goes and exchanging gifts, yeah, that’s great stuff, but without a lover to share it with, it just becomes another day.”

“Another day?” Squeezing her hand, Stephan caressed her inner forearm with his fingertips. “You look detached, not in tune with life and what it offers. When I came in and notice you, I watch you for long time.” He fiddled with the platinum ring on her forefinger. “Everyone around you smile, laugh…feel love and joy…except you.”

“Ha. You think this is bad? You should see me on Valentine’s Day.”

She tried to make light of the situation but failed miserably. The discomforting sting of his earlier observation took the wind right out of her sails. Was her demeanor that bad or her mental grief that obvious?

“Not like I wanna feel this way.”

“I want to ask you…what makes Tranell happy?”

“Puppies, rainbows, unicorns, the smell of roses…” she answered, finding his question endearing. “And, sitting here talking to you.”

His cheeks flushed, and his smile widened. “Merci, I hope to make you happier. Life too short to live in shadow of sadness. Someone so lovely…you shouldn’t be alone. This be our night. It be very special. I make sure of it.”

Our night?” Giving him an impish glint, she snickered. “You are super charming but presumptuous as well. I never said I was going to spend the night with you.”

Oui, you did, just not with your mouth.”

Stephan picked up his glass of wine, turned it up to his lips, and consumed it like he was chugging a beer. He released her hand and repositioned himself in the seat next to her. He then bent down, reached one arm across her lap, and took hold of the seat. The legs of the chair grunted over the wood flooring as he dragged her closer to him.

She latched onto the edge of the table. “What are you doing?”

“What it look like I’m doing?” Once he had eliminated all the space between them, his heated palm rested on the knee of her crossed leg, and his lips brushed over the shell of her ear. “I want to make you smile, Tranell.”

Her pulse quickened, the muscles in her thighs tightened, and her eyes briefly fluttered shut. “Damn boy, you are too bold for your own good.” A little voice in her head was telling her to pump the brakes and move away, but her body wouldn’t budge. “So I guess we’re past flirting, huh?”

“Come home with me,” he whispered.

Hesitantly, she turned to look into those hypnotizing eyes. “You expect me to believe you don’t have a woman at home waiting for you on Christmas Eve?”

Oui.”

“Uh-huh, I don’t believe you.”

“I prove to you by taking you home. Please drink your wine.”

Determined to play hard to get, she clucked her tongue and cocked her head. “Why? So you can get me drunk and my decision making skills go out the window?”

“No.” He tapped the stem of the glass with his nail, smiling devilishly. “Drink to relax, so I can make you my lover.”

New Release

Life is good. My mom is recovering and I wasn’t torn apart by the Lycans. Work is rolling in almost faster than I can handle, and I might even be about to find my dad. The cherry on top? I’ve met a man. One who gives me all the attention Demarcus never did and doesn’t make me nervous like Zaid does. Yeah, I know he’s human, so a relationship is out of the question, but I’m going to enjoy his company for as long as I can. It’s nice to have a normal, non-paranormal friend, especially when he’s as handsome as Easton.

When will I ever learn that just when thinks are going well, it’s time to expect crazy to rear its head? Nothing is turning out quite the way I expected, but through trying to keep my human IT guru out of Undercity business, dealing with a stalker and the aftermath of some of the best sex of my life, I come to one conclusion. It really isn’t me…

The Undercity Chronicles of Babylonia Jones, P.I.

It’s Not Me, It’s You

By A.M. Griffin

Zaid is one of the oldest living Vampires. His age is unknown and, from his own mouth, he predates the birth of Christ. Melia is over two hundred years old and in the Vampire world, while she’s not considered old, she’s considered seasoned. The older a Vampire is, the more dangerous they become and their powers become more refined. I could see why everyone feared Zaid on that point alone.

When my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I made out the furnishings in his room; dresser, recliner and large bed. His eyes were like beacons, letting me know that they were not only open, but looking directly at me.

I made my way to his recliner and eased into the comfortable leather seat. “I can see why you like this thing. It’s comfy.” I had to hand it to them. Vampires sure had a way of picking out comfortable seating.

“Aw, I was hoping you would join me in bed,” he said in a deep and throaty voice. “This is quite…comfortable too.”

I brought up my legs and crossed them. “Not on this visit, buddy.”

He chuckled.

“Usually when I come during the day you’re up. I mean, you’re in bed, but you’re wide awake. Why are you so sleepy now?”

“I sleep during the day, but just not as long or hard as the others.”

“Is it because you’re so old?”

“Partly.”

“Partly,” I repeated. “What are the other factors?”

“Babylonia, I am exhausted and if I don’t get some sleep I’ll be cranky. You wouldn’t like me when I’m cranky.”

I snorted. “I don’t like you now.”

“Stop lying. You adore me.”

“Adore would be stretching it. Alright. Go to sleep and I’ll just sit here and wait.”

He went quiet and I folded my hands in my lap, trying to stay still and not fidget. I began to think about exactly how the visit would go down. The Fairy King will come up to me and, with one look, declare that not only was I half-Fairy but he was also my father. There would be a little crying and some hugs. He would tell me that he hadn’t known that I existed, he would apologize for being absent in my life and for leaving my mom to struggle on her own.

Maybe I’d go visit him so he could teach me all about my powers. No. I couldn’t do that. According to Zaid I might go there and when I came back years might’ve passed. He would have to stay with me for a while. As the King, could he leave for an extended visit? I mentally shrugged. Probably.

Zaid let out a deep breath and pulled me from my thoughts. “I don’t think I can sleep while you’re in the room.”

“I won’t hurt you. I promise.”

“It’s not that. Even in sleep I can defend myself.” I thought back on the time when I’d made a mistake and gotten too close to Melia while she’d slept. She held me in a tight grip until she’d woken up that evening. I couldn’t pry her hand off of my forearm and couldn’t get away. I’d been powerless. “It’s your scent,” he continued. “It does something to me.”

I lowered my head to sniff at my cleavage. “I don’t remember putting on the Chanel N°5 this morning, but I could’ve.” I’d bought a small bottle of the very expensive perfume and because I’d worn it sparingly, it had lasted almost a year. But thanks to Zaid, I had a new, bigger bottle. I frowned. “I was a bit out of it today.”

He took a longer, shuddering breath. “It’s not the perfume. It’s your natural scent.”

I straightened. “Oh, I can’t do anything about that. Just stop breathing then, you’re a Vampire, you don’t need to anyway.”

“It’s not that simple.”

“Yeah, it is, just hold your breath.”

“You’re going to be the death of me.” He shifted on the bed. “Why were you ‘out of it’ this morning?”

I lifted a shoulder. “I guess I had a little too much to drink last night.”

He paused and through the silence my heart picked up speed. We weren’t dating. We weren’t an item. But a flash of guilt surfaced as I thought about my date with Easton.

“What happened last night?”

“Nothing,” I was quick to reply.

“Another lie. I can hear it in your voice and the way your body is reacting. What happened last night?”

“None of your concern.”

He turned on his side, giving me his back. “Have fun finding the Belle Isle portal without me.”

I slapped my hands on my thighs. “Oh my god, stop being childish. I went on a date. There.”

He didn’t reply. An uncomfortable silence fell over us.

After a few minutes I cleared my throat.

“Who did you go out on a date with? Demarcus?”

I chuckled. “Yeah, right. Been there, done that. Don’t need to revisit that fiasco. Ever.” I waved a hand through the air. “I went out with a guy I met the other day. A human.”

“A human? You don’t belong with a human. A human would never understand our kind.”

“I know.” There was no point in denying it. Growing up I’d had human boyfriends and I’d found that hiding and lying didn’t result in a good relationship and, in the end, the relationships had been more trouble than they were worth anyway.

“Then why did you go?” he asked softly.

I sighed. “I don’t know, Zaid. He was nice, cute, funny and he was normal. He was just a normal guy that was interested in me and it felt good to be noticed.”

“I notice you.”

You also scare me.

A mob boss finding his dead lover alive six years after her death? Shocking. Learning they’ve got a five-year-old son? Deadly.

Six years ago Sanai Ward fled her home in Florida when her lover’s infidelity nearly brought her life to a fiery end. Devastated but determined to create a safe and happy life for the child she was carrying, Sanai started over from nothing.

Single parenthood isn’t easy. But the joys of watching her beloved Nazario thrive is more than enough motivation to ignore the ache in her heart for the man that shattered her soul.

Dante De Luca is a passionate man who’s had his life stolen from him. Six years ago he was in love and happy, until his woman was killed in a fire. There was nothing left in the ashes but the locket he’d placed around her neck. Too angry to deal with his loss, Dante sought to make the world pay for his broken heart by forming an unholy covenant with an unspeakable ally. He’d live to regret it, but signing away his humanity to the devil seemed meaningless when his soul was already gone.

When an accident involving a family member draws Dante to New York, it forces an unexpected meeting between him and Sanai. Then Dante has to decide what’s more important: his rage and revenge, or the safety of the woman he once loved and the health of his new-found son?

Lies You Tell

By

La Quette

There was no mistaking that face; this was the woman he’d been looking for. He watched as she maneuvered the car out of the parking lot. When her car was a comfortable distance away, Dante slowly pulled out of his spot to follow.

He tracked her vehicle cautiously. There were always two to three cars between them at any given time. When she went through the electronic tag-holder lane to get to the Whitestone Bridge, he aimed his car at the cash lane.

He kept eyes on her all the way to Brooklyn, all the way to a familiar block. He’d been to Crescent Street several times over throughout his life. His right-hand man in Florida had a grandmother who lived on this block.

“It can’t be,” he whispered. “It’s just a coincidence.”

He watched her step out of her car and walk toward a house he could remember standing inside. When she reached the inside of the gate, he slipped inside behind her.

“Excuse me.”

She stumbled at the sound of his voice. Her head snapped around, her gaze clashing with Dante’s. That was when he felt it: That sizzle, that spark of electricity they’d always shared. That fire that was constantly present when they were this close. This wasn’t a coincidence.

“My God, it’s you,” slipped from his lips just before he pulled her into his arms and sealed her lips with his. There was that perfect mix of fire, heat, and vanilla that was always there whenever he’d kissed her in the past. Familiar lips moved under his with a matched urgency. A routine so familiar neither of them had to think about it. Even after six years, their bodies still remembered.

He pulled away from the kiss only to take in the air his burning lungs were demanding. He looked down into the hickory-brown gaze staring back at him and saw the spark of fear there.

“Six years, Sanai. Six fucking years I thought you were dead. Care to explain to me how I managed to get that wrong?”

She tried to step away from him, but he placed a firm hand on her forearm to keep her where she stood.

“Why are you here, Dante? You shouldn’t be here.”

“No.” He shook his finger at her. “The question isn’t why am I here, but how the hell are you here? I saw them bring your body out of that burning building. The cops had to fucking cuff me to keep me from running in there to try to save you. How did we all get that wrong, Sanai? There was a body with your necklace on it. How the hell could you let me think you’d died in that damn fire?”

Scorpion Tail Excerpt

Smoke and Strawberries

“What do you have over these cops? Have you given favors to them all? Even the chief? Is that why you carry on like you own the place?”

MonaLisa swirled around and cocked her head to the side. “Hold up. Did you just call me a whore?”

Toshiro shrugged. “If the shoe fits…”

The smile she offered was full of malice. “Ooo, what a trashy prince you are. You’re just begging for my attention, aren’t you? Well you got it. Consider yourself on my radar.”

On her radar? Is that a threat? In a flash, he was in her face. With his hand braced against the wall behind her and the other wrapped around her arm, he pinned her to the building. Despite the position he had her in, she continued to puff away on her cancer stick, which in turn, infuriated him further.

Toshiro snatched the cigarette from between her lips, threw it on the ground and stomped on it. Noses inches apart, he breathed in her aroma. She smelled of smoke and strawberries. The combination disturbed him, more so because it also aroused him. She confused his senses, made him feel things he wasn’t quite sure of. This close, he could see the specks of gold lining her chocolate brown irises. They shimmered like stars. Aside from her face, it was one of the prettiest things he’d ever seen.

What are you doing, Toshiro?

He swallowed the lump easing up his throat. “After I catch my perp, I’m going to make it my business to bring you and your band of thugs down.”

“Is that right?” Her eyelids fluttered, her breathing wavered. “A’ight then.” She flicked her tongue out and swept it over his lips. “Game on, Mah-soo-dah.”

He scrambled back, nearly falling over the hood of a police cruiser. A heatwave rushed over him and settled in his groin. Wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand, he glared at her. His lips quivered, his cock throbbed.

She released a deep, sultry laugh. “Ohh, you’re just too easy. Gotta toughen up if you’re gonna pick fights with me. Catch ya’ later.” Her swaying rear end taunted him as she headed for the shiny royal blue and white antique vehicle.

If he wasn’t mistaken, it was a Plymouth Fury. Couldn’t give her credit for lady-like behavior, but at least she had good taste in cars.

She spun around on a playful twirl and dared to light another cigarette. “Just remember, Inspector Mah-soo-dah…” She took a draw from the end and winked at him. “When you bust, I’ll bust harder.”

His chest drew so tight he could hardly breathe. What was pure rage manifested into something explosive, something he couldn’t control. “That is it!” As his feet carried him forward, his mind went blank.

Saturday Teaser 2 #ScorpionTail #FadeToBlack #ASMSG #ComingSoon

A snippet from SCORPION TAIL (Fade To Black) **COMING SOON**

ScorpionTail_fbcover

Alicia lumbered into the kitchen, yanked the fridge open and grabbed a bottle of milk. The light within cast a glow over the round table by the window. The gleam brought a dark figure into view. At first, it looked like a harmless shadow.

But then, it moved.

Her heart lunged up into her throat. Gasping, she scurried backwards. The bottle fell from her grip and cold liquid splashed over her feet.

A deep sigh-filled exhale came from the shadow. With it, a smoky scent drifted by her nose.

Eyes glued on the intruder, she inched over to the wall and flipped the switch. The single ceiling light flickered on. Her mouth went dry and her body tensed.

Seated at the table, dressed in all black, was Becca. Legs crossed, he gazed out the open kitchen window as he puffed away on a cigarette. His long hair concealed the sides of his face, making him appear as nothing more than a silhouette. Black leather gloves covered his hands, which meant one thing. He didn’t want to leave any fingerprints.

Gun. She had it hidden in the cabinet above the fridge.
