Scattered Flames ~ The Dragon Queen Series

Sacrifice

Lost in a sea of pleasure, Imrie cried out, never wanting the sensation to end. Whatever he desires of me, I will do it. She turned her head, allowing him to drink freely.

Ukemi appeared in the doorway.

Imrie went rigid.

Thankfully, the vision and blood lust had Lord Lucius distracted, or for lack of a better word, occupied. Had he seen Ukemi, he would’ve reacted.

“Ukemi, you shouldn’t be here! If he sees you…”

With her sweet face bunched in disappointment, she shook her head. “You’re no better than your husband. You sold your soul and body to the devil just to trap the dragon queen, and now he owns you.”

“No my dear girl, I sold my soul and body to the devil so you wouldn’t have to. Now please, return to your quarters before he senses you.”

A snippet from SCORPION TAIL (Fade To Black) **COMING SOON**

Alicia lumbered into the kitchen, yanked the fridge open and grabbed a bottle of milk. The light within cast a glow over the round table by the window. The gleam brought a dark figure into view. At first, it looked like a harmless shadow.

But then, it moved.

Her heart lunged up into her throat. Gasping, she scurried backwards. The bottle fell from her grip and cold liquid splashed over her feet.

A deep sigh-filled exhale came from the shadow. With it, a smoky scent drifted by her nose.

Eyes glued on the intruder, she inched over to the wall and flipped the switch. The single ceiling light flickered on. Her mouth went dry and her body tensed.

Seated at the table, dressed in all black, was Becca. Legs crossed, he gazed out the open kitchen window as he puffed away on a cigarette. His long hair concealed the sides of his face, making him appear as nothing more than a silhouette. Black leather gloves covered his hands, which meant one thing. He didn’t want to leave any fingerprints.

Gun. She had it hidden in the cabinet above the fridge. How could she get to it, without sparking his suspicions? “How did you get in here?” Stupid question, but it was the only thing she could think to say at the moment. She’d never been this scared in her life. His presence alone shook her to the core. “Are… are you here kill me?”

He breathed out a stream of smoke, then finally turned and fixed those eerie, bright on her. “That’s entirely up to you.” Using his foot, he pushed the chair adjacent from him out from the table. “Have a seat.”

Passion Unleashed: Nylora’s Fate *Unedited Excerpt*

Despite Uta and Stefan’s warnings against going to Max’s alone, Nylora had decided to throw caution to the wind and have a night out. She needed it. She’d been working extra hard at the business that she’d practically been running herself since Uta and Stefan had gotten together. Nylora didn’t mind. She liked the fine Mr. Stefan Ascott, even if Nylora did find him a bit eccentric and at times over protective. Very protective of Uta.

Nylora had a feeling that she should have heeded her friend’s warning. For the first time since she began coming to Max’s, she was a bit uncomfortable. She just had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that all was not well. That coupled with the feeling someone was near. Nylora kept thinking that someone was standing in front of her, but no one was. Strange feelings she was having tonight.

She suddenly felt a slight burst of wind next to her that caused her to tremble and wrap her arms around herself as one would trying to keep warm. The only problem was she was in a building and not sitting next to any window or the door. “So what the hell was that?” she whispered, and couldn’t contain the shiver that spread across her. “Time to go. My grandmamma said when that happened someone had walked over your grave.”

Nylora got up and tried to make her way over to the door to leave; however her departure was hindered when she accidently bumped into someone and stumbled back. A long arm staked out and grabbed hold of her to prevent her fall. Instinct caused her to look up at the person who had saved her from being even more embarrassed than she already was, and gasped. The liquid silver eyes of her savior pulled her deeply into their depths. Mouth agape, Nylora could only stare into his eyes. That was until she saw the smirk on his face. ‘Oh brother,’ she thought. ‘Just another loser thinking he’s going to score.’ She pushed away from him and quickly made her way to the door and outside.

“Oh damn. Tonight was not the night to park down the block, Nylora,” she chastised herself. She’d gotten a quarter of the way down the block when she got a strange feeling that someone was following. She looked on either side of her and behind her and didn’t see a soul. Nylora knew from experience that just because you couldn’t see something didn’t mean that it wasn’t there. Her hand went to her cell phone case and began to push the razor that she kept hidden in the homemade slit, and rapidly used her thumb to push the razor out and into her hand.

There it was again. The feeling that someone was following her, only this time she thought she heard laughter. Fear began to set in causing her to quicken her steps—straight-razor at the ready.

Quickly looking back, Nylora still didn’t see anyone—yet the sinister laugh came again. This time the laughter was more prominent. “I’m not going down without a fight,” she said to no in particular, and then stopped in her tracks at the sound of her friend screaming her name. “Uta?” she cried, quickly turning around. No sound came out at all as her world suddenly turned black.

Latching onto her flailing arm, Maurisio grumbled, “I see those wings are gonna be a problem.”

Rayne wasn’t sure how to use them yet, but they clearly responded to her emotions. The pain he’d blocked out came back full blast. Her head whirled. For a moment, she couldn’t breathe. The anger growing within tripled in size. It joined forces with the desperation crawling under her skin.

Jerking back, she growled in a fit of rage. She felt like an animal, trapped, bounded against her will. Gotta get away. Gotta get to him. “Let me go!” Her wings flapped with her motion. “Get your damn hands off me!” Wind gathered beneath her feathers, giving her the force she needed to pull away from him.

“Stop!” Sliding across the pavement, he held her firm by the arms. “Stop struggling, Rayne. I’m not letting you go.”

“I know what you’re doing,” she hissed, her voice deepening as she spoke.

“Don’t you see I’m trying to help you? I’m not your enemy!”

“You’re trying to keep me away from him.”

“Away from who?”

The question seized her. There was a hidden meaning behind his words, a meaning she didn’t like.

“If I let you go, who would you go to?”

Frozen in place, she blinked a few times. Her lips parted. Instead of an answer, a shaky sigh left her body. Who would I go to? The answer was clear in her mind, yet at the same time, smudged in the black abyss of her thoughts.

Maurisio’s gaze darkened, tears welled beneath his lids. He lifted her off her feet and yanked her against him, where their faces mere inches apart. “You have no idea where my brother’s being held ‘cause you can’t feel his location. He doesn’t exist in this realm anymore. His soul link has been severed, which is the only way our family bond could’ve been broken. So, what name lingers on your mind? Tell me, Rayne! Who does your demon desire?” His venomous words stabbed her in the heart as his fangs lengthened. “In his absence, who would you go to?”

Lucius. The name crept into her thoughts like a sly serpent. Lucius. Ice cold need rushed through veins and stilled her heart. Lucius! She needed Demetri with every fiber of her being, but somewhere deep inside… I want Lucius!

Fangs clenched, she spat out, “Fuck Lucius!”

Snippet from Crimson Memories #ian1 #asmsg #shifters #steampunk #Interracial #Fairytale

This is a dream segment from my upcoming novel, Crimson Memories, due to release at the end of April.

The 2 main characters, Petra and Argon are seductively teasing each other through their dreams. Enjoy!

Panting helplessly, I reached out for her.

Petra skipped backwards and began to circle me, prancing on her toes. She moved so fluidly, I thought she would twirl into a ballet at any moment. “Are you hunting me, Argon?” Her voice was a breath of silk, brushing over me like a soothing wind.

“I am,” I admitted with no shame. “You captivate me.” Like her, I had changed. My timbre had deepened, my body had stretched. I was now a man, suffering the primal longing for this elusive woman before me. “Are you going to continue to make me chase you?”

“I think I will.” She ended her roundabout, tilted her head playfully and then darted behind another tree.

Husky laughter shook my chest as I went in pursuit. “Such a teasing temptress.” I rounded the evergreen, and she wasn’t there.

She appeared from behind the adjacent tree. “You like to be teased and I like it when you chase me. It makes me feel wanted.”

I dared a few steps forward. “And want you, I do. Would you like to know what I plan to do once I get my hands on you?”

The question sent a shudder down her form. Her lips parted, eyes widened.

Taking one lengthy step, I lunged toward her.

Determined to keep the space between us, she leapt backwards. “Save it.” Leaving her girlish laughter echoing across the forest, she vanished behind another tree, only to reappear behind me. “You can surprise me…” Her breathy whisper feathered the shell of my ear. “…if you have the will to catch me.”

I spun around with my hand out for the grab, but my fingers grazed through air. “I see it amuses you to poke the bear. Go ahead. Run and hide, my pretty little lass. You must know hide and seek is my favorite game.”

“Of course it is. You are, after all, a hunter.” Twirling from around a tree, she brushed my cheek with the back of hand. “Didn’t anyone tell you that chasing a fantasy will only drive you to insanity?”

“Too late for that, sweetheart. I’m already there…” I lurched forward and caught her by the arm before she could turn and flee. I snatched her into an unyielding embrace and squeezed her against my hardened body. “…for you drove me to insanity the moment you let me put my lips on you.”
